STORAGE TIPS

Take inventory of what you're storing and choose a unit that fits your current needs while allowing room for a few extras. At Red Top Storage, we offer all sizes to fit your needs, so you never pay for more space than necessary.

Sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, and plastic bins will keep your items protected and organized. Avoid using grocery store boxes—they can break down over time. We offer locks, boxes, and packing materials on-site for your convenience.

Clearly mark each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This makes it easy to find what you need without unpacking everything.

Place heavier items like books or appliances on the bottom and lighter, more fragile items on top. Fill boxes completely to avoid collapse, but don’t overpack to the point they’re hard to lift.

Use vertical space by stacking boxes and furniture securely. Disassemble large items when possible (like bed frames or tables) and store them upright. Store couches on end and fill drawers or hollow items with smaller belongings.

Leave a path in the center of your unit so you can access items in the back without having to unload the entire space.

Place pallets or plastic sheeting on the ground before stacking boxes or furniture. This offers an added layer of protection, especially for long-term storage.

Never store food, plants, flammables, or hazardous materials. These can cause damage and are not allowed at our facility.

Use furniture covers or plastic wrap to protect from dust and moisture. Avoid using thick plastic that can trap humidity.

If storing long-term, drop in occasionally to check on your belongings and make sure everything is in good condition.
